The 43rd WorldSkills Competition, which was held in São Paulo, came to a close on 16 August 2015.

Through the coordination of the WorldSkills Hong Kong Secretariat, comprising staff of HQIP and IDO under the VTC,  the delegation received a send-off from Financial Secretary Mr John Tsang the Guest of Honour at the Flag Presentation Ceremony on 25 July 2015.  The 78-member Hong Kong delegation – its largest ever – consisted of competitors, experts, interpreters, as well as representatives from the government and industry.

The Team Hong Kong performed admirably at the Competition.  The 18 competitors who competed in 16 trades won 7 Medallions for Excellence.   This was Hong Kong’s best medal haul since 2003.  This year, almost 1,200 competitors from 59 countries and regions competed keenly in the largest ever WorldSkills Competition.  To come away with 7 medallions was, therefore, a remarkable achievement indeed.

Upon the Hong Kong Delegation’s return to Hong Kong, the competitors were received by Chief Executive Mr C Y Leung at the Government House on 27 August and joined a homecoming dinner hosted for the team on 28 August happily, which brought the WorldSkills event to a perfect close.
