International Fortnight” broadens global exposure
Riding on the success of the 2014-15 event, the IDO coordinated the “International Fortnight - Link Local, Go Global” with 47 activities, involving 12 operational units, taking place at 18 locations across the VTC’s member institutions from 22 February to 4 March 2016.
Diverse events.  A rich and exciting programme covered fine food, etiquette, fashion, innovation, language, sport and dance.  This was all expertly presented through an enjoyable series of events including exhibitions, seminars, demonstrations and cultural booths, as well as an “International Youth Chat” and a “Multi-cultural day”.
Students take the lead.  During the opening ceremony, hosted by two student emcees, 25 students were appointed as International Student Ambassadors.  These young leaders will work with the 2014-15 cohort to promote VTC international exchange activities including meet-ups with students, experts and scholars from different countries.
Clothing, cars and Michelin stars.  During “International Yummies”, a Michelin starred master chef, who has cooked for royalty and state leaders, demonstrated his culinary expertise to promote culture through food.  Another gem was the “SILK x STEEL Fashion x Car Show” where automobiles from different parts of the world were innovatively presented alongside exciting fashion trends.
A friendly finale. The close of the International Fortnight was crowned by “Basketball for International Friendship”, lifting language barriers and creating international friendships through sport.  This event was a showcase of cultural diversity, with other highlights including Kung-Fu Drama, singing and dancing by people of different nationalities.
