[ News ]  THEi students spend a semester in Europe  - 2018-01-10

Five students experience life at German and Dutch universities

In September 2017, four excited Product Design students from the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) set off for the Netherlands, followed in October by a Hotel Operations Management student headed for Germany.

Global classroom Julianna Lo, on exchange at Trier University of Applied Sciences (UAS), initially felt “a bit nervous” about her first group presentation with a Spanish student as well as two German classmates. However, she appreciates that “It is good to have groupmates from another country besides Germany. This presentation brings us together and let me realise how East and West think in profoundly different ways.”

European adventures.  During their time abroad, students have enjoyed local festivities and travelled extensively, both as part of their exchange programme and during weekends and holidays. For students at Rotterdam UAS this has included class field trips to Belgium and Spain.

New exchange partners.  These opportunities are possible thanks to agreements THEi has signed with Rotterdam UAS and Trier UAS, coordinated by the International Development Office, and both are partners with a very international outlook

Upon their return, students will be able to share experiences with their peers and continue their studies at THEi with a new perspective. The IDO looks forward to seeing more students learn and develop through exchange semesters for years to come.
