Thank you for your interest in applying for entry to the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hotel Operations Management (hereafter BA (Hons) in HOM) at the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi). Please read this information kit carefully before you begin your application.
Please note that this round of application is only for applicants who are seeking entry into the third year of the BA (Hons) in HOM programme only. If you are seeking entry into the first year of this programme, or are applying to other programmes at THEi, please do not proceed further, and applications for those programmes will begin in January 2020. You are advised to refer to the International Development Office (IDO)’s website at http://ido.vtc.edu.hk for updates.

Please refer to https://thei.edu.hk/international-students-admissions/general-entrance-requirement for the general entry requirements. In addition, as you are seeking entry to the third year of the BA (Hons) in HOM programme, you should hold sub-degree qualifications in the relevant streams that are equivalent to a Higher Diploma awarded by the Vocational Training Council. If you are unsure about whether your qualifications meet the entry requirements, please enquire with the IDO before submitting your qualifications.
Please note that all applications are considered on a case-by-case basis, based on its individual merits. Applicants who meet the entry requirements are also required to undergo and pass an interview (conducted either in person, or via video-conferencing software such as Skype and WeChat) before a decision on acceptance is made. Requests for voice-only interviews over the telephone will not be entertained, and it is your responsibility as an applicant to ensure that you have the necessary equipment to attend the interview.
The medium of instruction at THEi is English.

Please submit all the above-mentioned documents together with your application form in a ZIP/RAR file and send it to the designated email address. If the ZIP/RAR file is large in size (larger than 10 MB), you may upload the file to a cloud storage space (e.g. Google Drive, DropBox, Baidu Cloud, etc) and provide us with the link to retrieve the file. The VTC will not be responsible for the digital security of the document sent via cloud storage.
Please note that a verification of the original copies of all documents / academic qualifications submitted during the application will be required before the commencement of studies. Therefore you are advised to keep a copy of your application before submission.
For students who have the right of abode in Hong Kong, you will be considered as a local student and your application deadline will be 30 November 2019.
For students who do not have the right of abode in Hong Kong, you will be considered as a non-local student and your application deadline will be 5 November 2019. If your application is accepted and you accept the offer, you will be required to apply for a study visa before you commence your studies at THEi. The IDO will assist in the study visa application subsequently.
The timestamp on the application email when it arrives at the designated email address shall determine whether the application is received before the deadline.

Your application will be processed upon receipt of completed set of application documents and you will be notified of the result by email. Offer announcements for non-local students would generally be made no later than early December to facilitate the study visa applications, while those for local students may be made by end of December.
For non-local students, after you have accepted the offer, VTC will assist you to apply for a Hong Kong study visa. The application normally takes between 6 to 8 weeks upon receipt of all the required documents.
The spring semester begins on 20 January 2020, but you will be required to report to the Institute before this date. The Institute will inform you separately on when you need to arrive in Hong Kong and report to the Institute.
No fee is chargeable for the application for entry to the programme, but non-local students will have to pay an administration fee of HK$20,000 (inclusive of a registration fee of $5,000 which will be deducted from the first instalment of tuition fees) when an offer is accepted.
