General Entrance Requirements (International Applicants)

Degree Programmes (Normally to be completed in 4 years)
  • Applicants with non-local senior secondary qualifications or equivalent
  • Non-local qualifications refer to academic qualifications obtained in secondary or tertiary institutions outside Hong Kong and Mainland China, including General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE), International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), General Certificate of Education (GCE), International Baccalaureate (IB) or other overseas qualifications
  •  Applicants holding post-secondary or equivalent qualifications, such as Higher Diploma, in a relevant area of study may apply for Year-3 entry to Degree programmes.
  • Applications with non-local qualifications, including language qualifications, will be assessed individually by the departments concerned.

Higher Diploma Programmes (Normally to be completed in 2 years)


  1. Study duration of Degree Programmes: Year-1 entry: normally 4 years; Year-3 entry: normally 2 years
  2. Study duration of Higher Diploma programmes: normally 2 years
  3. Offering of study place is subject to the applicants' academic qualifications, interview / test performance (if applicable), other learning experience and achievements, and availability of study places.

  5. Applicants who choose Design-related programmes and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Multimedia Technology and Innovation programme are required to submit copies of their work portfolio for assessment by the departments concerned. The criteria for the work portfolio are as below:
    • Should include projects that show the creative potential and design competency of candidate
    • Should demonstrate visualisation skills
    • Should show personal interest as well as cultural awareness
    • Required to supplement with a concept illustration with no more than 100 words on portfolio creation
    • In PDF format
    • File size no larger than 5MB
    • Images are clear and in high resolution
    • No limit on the completion time and form of production
    • Name the file by the application number
    • Upload the portfolio to the Web-based Admissions System
  6. Applicants can apply with the results of the same public examination in different years of award. The best grade of multiple attempts on a particular subject will be assessed for admission.

Note(s): For Degree programmes, the TOEFL or IELTS results submitted must be within a 2-year period from the date of the test or examination to the date of commencement of study.


Other Language(s)

Apart from English Language, there is an additional language requirement, either Chinese or other languages. The qualifications will be assessed individually by the departments concerned.

Mature Applicant

Degree Programmes

Applicants aged 25 or above on or before 1 September admission year and do not meet the entrance requirements for a Degree Programme may apply for admission as a mature applicant.

Higher Diploma Programmes

Applicants aged 21 or above on or before 1 September admission year and do not meet the entrance requirements for a Higher Diploma Programme may apply for admission as a mature applicant.


  1. Applications from mature applicants will be considered on an individual basis. They must demonstrate sufficient motivation, knowledge, potential and ability to make it likely they would complete the programme successfully. Applicants will not have priority over other applicants, and only a limited number of places are offered to suitable mature applicants.
